John Sumner, owner of Sumner Machine Works, is the machinist and designer of the hardcore off-road parts. John has been a machinist since 1976, starting out with agricultural and industrial manufacturing and repair.

He began narrowing axles for drag cars and street rods. Then, in the early 1990s, John became one of the early builders of the custom 9" Ford front axle for four-wheel drive applications. Soon after he began making disc brake conversion kits and transmission-to-transfer case adapters .
